So…
In December 1988, having claimed to be about to release his Flightless album, Rog performed a spectacular reverse-ferret and released The Unexpected EP instead. This flagrant stop-gap effort included the seasonally silly It Always Rains on Christmas Morning, a preposterous paean to nostalgia and meteorology.
Slow-forward to 2018: to commemorate the 30th anniversary of not releasing an album, he’s not releasing another one. While the long-threatened “new’ album is indeed gradually getting its pads on, it’s still some distance from being fit to leave the pavilion, so he’s sending out a nightwatchman in the form of It Always Rains on Christmas Morning, newly re-recorded (without a cold this time) and available here, through the mighty Bad Elephant, as a pay-what-you-like download.
All proceeds from this release will be donated to Save the Children.
